The success of the Singapore Cruise Centre @ HarbourFront is testament
to the experience and expertise of SCCPL in developing and managing
cruise ports. Handling over 8 million cruise and ferry passengers
as well as 500,000 ship crew annually through our terminals is no
easy feat. But SCCPL has successfully done so for the past 14 years.
SCC has been managing the purpose-built, common-user cruise and
ferry terminal since 1991. Over the years, SCCPL has been constantly
improving its infrastructure to cater for larger cruise ships. Currently,
the luxurious mega-cruise ship, SuperStar
Virgo (Star Cruises), with 2800 passengers and 1125
crew capacity, is home-based at SCCPL making three calls per week.
SCC handles about 700,000 cruise passengers a year from all the
cruise ship calls.
In the international scene, SCCPL has been invited to participate
in numerous overseas cruise and ferry terminal development projects.
Some of the countries that SCCPL has evaluated were Turkey, Cyprus,
Spain (Barcelona), Italy (Civitavecchia), USA (San Francisco), Mexico,
South Korea (Cheju), Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. SCCPL has
also successfully secured the exclusive management right for the
new San Francisco Cruise Terminal. Currently SCCPL is bidding for
the management of the cruise terminals in Galataport, Istanbul,
Turkey and in the Larnaca Port Development Project in Cyprus. SCC
is also in discussion with interested parties in Dalian, China and
Bodrum, Turkey, to manage and operate the cruise terminals there.
SCCPL has the valuable network for strategic alliances in international
cruise terminal development. With a strategic competitive advantage
in cruise terminal development and management, SCCPL can certainly
add value to any commercial waterfront development projects.
